Sending a PDF as an email attachment hands over your document with no visibility into what happens next. You cannot see whether it was opened, who downloaded it, or whether the version recipients have is still current. When a proposal needs updating or a media kit changes, every attachment already in someone's inbox is stale and there is no way to fix that without resending.

A document page replaces the attachment with a clean branded hosted page behind a branded short link and QR code. Nimriz records a page view event and a file download event each time someone engages with the document, giving you aggregate views, downloads, and a device breakdown tied directly to the owning short link. Because analytics use a privacy-aware analytics pipeline, raw IP addresses and full User-Agent strings are never stored.

When you need to know who specifically viewed the document and not just aggregate counts, an optional lead gate (on supported plans) collects name, email, phone, or company with consent copy before revealing the page. Leads are stored against the owning page and short link, exportable as CSV, and the gate itself stays editable without touching the link or QR. Add an expiry date or password via link protection controls when you need time-limited or restricted access.

The whole setup stays editable. Swap the PDF, update the title, add supporting files, and every existing link and QR code immediately points to the new version. No resending, no duplicate pages, no broken distributions.

Who it is for

Sales teams sharing collateral

Send proposals, one-pagers, and case studies as trackable document links instead of attachments. Know which prospects opened the doc and when they downloaded it, so follow-up timing is based on real engagement rather than guesswork.

Marketing distributing reports and whitepapers

Gate research reports and whitepapers behind a lead form to capture contact details before download. Track aggregate view and download counts by channel to understand which campaigns drive the most engagement with gated content.

Ops and partnerships sharing working documents

Share contracts, briefing packs, and partner decks via a stable branded link. Update the document content at any time without reissuing the link, and add a password or expiry when the document is time-sensitive or confidential.

What you get

PDF hosting and inline preview

Upload a PDF and Nimriz creates a clean branded hosted page at a Nimriz-controlled URL. Where the browser supports it, the document renders inline so recipients read it without downloading. A direct open and download action is always available alongside the preview, and optional supporting PDFs appear as separate companion downloads.

View and download tracking

Nimriz records a page view event each time someone reaches the document page and a file download event each time they download a file. These events feed into the page Track tab and the owning short link analytics summary so you can see aggregate views, downloads, and device breakdown in one place. IP addresses are never stored raw.

Branded short link and QR code

Every document page gets its own branded short link and a downloadable QR code. The QR encodes the short link with the Nimriz QR marker so scan traffic is tracked separately from regular link clicks, giving you a clean channel split across email outreach, press releases, and print placements without creating multiple page records.

Optional lead gate

On supported plans, enable a pre-content lead gate that requires visitors to submit their name, email, phone, or company before the document is revealed. You write the consent copy; Nimriz stores each submission tied to the owning page and short link. Leads export as CSV, and a 7-day browser cookie keeps returning visitors from having to fill the form again.

Edit content without changing the link

Replace or update the primary PDF, change the page title, or swap supporting files at any time from the Pages editor. The branded short link and QR code stay identical so printed materials, email campaigns, and press releases you have already distributed continue pointing to the current version automatically.

Link protection controls

Add a password gate or an expiry date to the short link that owns the document page via Nimriz link protection. This is separate from the lead gate: password and expiry controls live at the redirect layer, so you can combine time-limited access with identity capture without changing the document page itself.

How it works

Host, share, and track every document in one workflow

Create a document page, upload your PDF, and share it with a branded link or QR. Every view and download is tracked so you understand engagement and can follow up at the right moment.

1
Plan

Create a document page and upload a PDF. The page gets an embedded viewer so recipients can read inline when their browser supports it, or download directly.

2
Publish

Generate a branded short link and QR code. Use the link for email and digital channels; print the QR for materials - both feed into the same analytics record.

3
Measure

Track aggregate views, downloads, unique visitors, and device breakdown from the page Track tab or the owning link analytics view.

  • Optionally enable a lead gate to collect contact details before granting access to sensitive documents. Leads store against the page and short link and export as CSV.
  • Update or replace the PDF at any time. Existing links and QR codes continue to point to the same page without any resharing required.

Setup

  1. 1
Create a document page and upload the primary PDF
Go to Pages in the dashboard, click New page, and choose Document page. Select your domain and optional custom slug for the short link, add a page title and description, then upload the primary PDF. Supporting PDFs are optional and appear as companion downloads on the public page. Save as a draft while you configure the remaining options.
  2. 2
Optionally add a lead gate, expiry, or password
If you want to collect contact details before the document is revealed, turn on Lead capture in the page editor (available on Professional and Enterprise). Choose which fields to require from name, email, phone, and company, and add your consent copy. Separately, use the short link's protection settings to add a password gate or expiry date at the redirect layer if time-limited or restricted access is needed.
  3. 3
Publish and share via branded link or QR
Publish the page to make it live. The share modal gives you the branded short URL, a copy action, and a QR download. Use the short URL in email outreach and digital channels; use the QR for print placements, signage, or conference materials. Both point to the same document page and feed into the same analytics record.
  4. 4
Track views and downloads in the analytics dashboard
Open the Track tab on the page or the owning link's analytics view to see aggregate page views, file downloads, unique visitors, and device breakdown. If a lead gate is enabled, lead submissions and counts appear alongside engagement metrics. All analytics use Nimriz's privacy-aware analytics model, so no raw IP addresses are stored.
  5. 5
Update the document anytime without changing the link
Return to Pages, open the editor, replace the primary PDF or add supporting files, and save. The branded short link and QR stay unchanged. Every existing share, campaign, or print placement automatically delivers the updated document. If the document expires or is replaced entirely, consider using link expiry rather than deleting the page so analytics continuity is preserved.

What good looks like

Raw PDF attachment

  • Recipient gets a file in their inbox with no branded context.
  • No visibility into whether it was opened or downloaded.
  • The file is stale the moment you update the source document.
  • No way to gate access or collect contact details before download.
  • Different recipients may have different versions with no way to reconcile.

Branded document page with tracking

  • Recipients see a branded hosted page with inline PDF preview and a one-click download.
  • Aggregate views and downloads tracked per page with privacy-aware analytics.
  • Update the PDF anytime - the short link and QR keep delivering the current version.
  • Optional lead gate collects name, email, phone, or company before revealing the document.
  • Multiple distribution links let you compare engagement by channel (email, press, social).

Result: sales can follow up at the right moment, marketing can compare channel engagement, and ops can update working documents without reissuing links.

Frequently asked questions

Which file types does a document page support?
Document pages currently support PDF files only, up to 10 MiB per file. The primary document is required to publish the page. Supporting PDFs are optional and are displayed as companion downloads alongside the primary document. See the document pages guide for full upload details.
Can I see who viewed my document?
Nimriz reports aggregate view and download counts using a privacy-aware analytics pipeline that does not store raw IP addresses or full User-Agent strings. Without a lead gate, you can see total views, downloads, unique visitors, device breakdown, and referrer context for the page, but not the identity of individual visitors. If you need to capture visitor identity, enable the optional lead gate (Professional and Enterprise plans). Once the gate is active, each submission is stored with the owning page and short link and is exportable as CSV. See privacy-aware analytics for more on what is and is not collected.
How does the lead gate work?
When a lead gate is enabled on a document page, visitors see a form before the document content is revealed. You choose which fields to require from name, email, phone, and company, and you write the consent copy that appears on the form. After a successful submission, the page is unlocked immediately and the same browser stays unlocked for 7 days so repeat visits do not require another submission. Lead gate setup is available on Professional and Enterprise plans. See the lead capture gates guide for setup steps and CSV export instructions.
Can I add a password or expiry date to a document page?
Yes. Password protection and link expiry are set on the short link that owns the document page, separate from the page content itself. A password gate shows a simple entry prompt before the redirect resolves. An expiry date stops the link from redirecting after a set date and time, sending traffic to your configured fallback destination instead. These controls live in the link's protection settings and can be added, changed, or removed without affecting the document page or its analytics. See link protection for details.
Can I update the PDF without changing the short link or QR code?
Yes. The short link and QR code belong to the page record, not the uploaded file. You can replace the primary PDF, update the page title, or add and remove supporting PDFs at any time from the Pages editor. All existing distributions, including printed QR codes, continue working and immediately deliver the updated document. Analytics continuity is preserved because the page and its owning link stay the same.
What plan do I need for document pages and lead gates?
Document pages are available on Growth, Professional, and Enterprise plans. Lead capture gates require Professional or Enterprise. If you are on Starter or Plus, you can upgrade to Growth to access document pages. Upgrade to Professional or Enterprise to also enable the lead gate. See the pricing page for a full plan comparison.
How are QR scans tracked separately from link clicks?
QR codes generated by Nimriz encode the short link with a reserved QR marker. When someone scans the code, the redirect layer classifies the event as a qr_scan rather than a standard click. This means you can see the split between regular link clicks (email, browser, social) and QR scans (print, signage, in-person) on the same document page without creating separate links. See the QR code tracking glossary entry for more.
Does the document page show Nimriz branding?
In the current version, document pages display a Nimriz footer. The short link uses your own branded domain, and the page title and description are yours. Removing Nimriz page branding is an Enterprise-level posture. For broader page theming and branding controls, see the hosted pages feature page.
