Workspace and profile deletion

Workspace and personal deletion, the 30-day grace period, and how to cancel.

Types of deletion

Workspace deletion

Workspace deletion permanently removes a workspace account and all data owned by that workspace, including:

  • All short links (which immediately stop redirecting traffic).
  • All domains granted to that workspace.
  • All routing rules, QR codes, spaces, tags, and exports.
  • All team memberships in that workspace.
  • All API keys, webhook endpoints, and conversion secrets for that workspace.

Who can request it: Organization Owners or Organization Admins.

Where to find it: Settings → Account (within the workspace you want to delete).

Note: Workspace deletion is not the same as leaving a workspace. It removes the workspace entirely, for all members.

Personal profile deletion

Personal profile deletion removes your individual user identity and access across every workspace you belong to. It does not automatically delete those workspaces-it only removes your membership.

Who can request it: The currently signed-in user.

Where to find it: Settings → Profile.

Confirming deletion

Nimriz requires explicit confirmation to prevent accidental deletions:

  • Workspace deletion requires you to type the workspace name exactly before proceeding.
  • Profile deletion requires you to type your email address exactly before proceeding.

The 30-day grace period

Deletion is not instantaneous. After you confirm a deletion request, the account enters a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion occurs.

What happens immediately

The moment deletion is requested:

  • For workspace deletion: Dashboard access is locked immediately for all workspace members. All public short links for that workspace stop redirecting traffic. Visitors clicking affected links will reach the domain's not-found fallback.
  • For profile deletion: Your dashboard access is blocked immediately. Links you created remain in the workspace-your links are workspace data, not personal data tied solely to your profile.

What happens after 30 days

After the grace period expires, permanent deletion runs. This removes all underlying data records and is not reversible.

Cancelling within the grace period

You can reverse a deletion during the 30-day window:

  • Cancel workspace deletion: An authorized administrator (Org Owner or Org Admin) can cancel from the workspace settings. Dashboard access and public link redirects are immediately restored.
  • Cancel profile deletion: The same user can cancel from their profile settings after re-authenticating. Normal dashboard access is immediately restored.

Safeguards and limitations

Owner safeguard for profile deletion

You cannot delete your personal profile if you are the last remaining Admin (or Org Owner) of any workspace or organization. The platform blocks this to prevent workspaces from becoming permanently orphaned with no administrator.

Before deleting your profile:

  • Transfer your organization ownership to another member, or
  • Add another Admin and remove yourself from any workspace where you are the last Admin, or
  • Delete the workspace entirely first.

Analytics retention

Raw click analytics events are stored in durable platform infrastructure that follows standard retention schedules. When a workspace is deleted:

  • Application-level access to analytics is removed.
  • Associated link and workspace records are deleted from the database.
  • Raw, anonymized analytics events in the underlying analytics store are subject to the platform's standard retention schedule and cannot be selectively erased early on request.

This is relevant if you are subject to data privacy regulations and need to communicate data retention timelines to your users.

Link data

Links belong to the workspace, not to individual user profiles. When a workspace member leaves or a profile is deleted, their links remain in the workspace and continue redirecting normally.

Deletion status page

The /deletion-status page in the dashboard shows the current state of any pending deletion for your active workspace or profile. Use this page to:

  • Confirm a deletion request is in progress.
  • Cancel the deletion during the grace period.
  • Check how many days remain in the grace period.

Troubleshooting

I started a workspace deletion but need to stop it

Log in to the dashboard (if you still have access through org-level credentials) and navigate to the workspace's deletion status. Click Cancel deletion. Dashboard access and link redirects will be restored immediately.

If you have been locked out and cannot access the dashboard, contact support with your workspace name and registered email address.

My profile deletion is blocked

The most common reason is that you are the last Admin of one or more workspaces, or the Org Owner. The dashboard will tell you which workspaces or organizations are preventing the deletion. Add another Admin to those workspaces and transfer org ownership before retrying.

Short links stopped working and I do not know why

If links on a specific workspace have stopped redirecting without any action from you, check the workspace's account status page. A workspace entering a deletion grace period stops all link redirects immediately.
